The town of Bucksport was in the spotlight earlier this week. Town officials, educators and local business owners got a chance to voice their concerns and possibly bring change.
Bucksport is a town that relied heavily on its mill. When it closed, it cost many their jobs and hurt the economy, leaving people worried about its future. But in recent years, the town is once again flourishing.
“Everybody knew that it was going to happen,” said Mike Gross, the owner of Verona Wine and Design. “Once it did happen, then it was sort of a catalyst to say, okay, now we need to do something else.”
Republican candidate for governor, Mary Mayhew talked to local business owners in Bucksport, to see what’s working and what’s not.
