Two weeks, nine towns, hundreds of Mainers met!

A donation of just a few dollars would make a difference in this race as we reach out to voters across the state. If you’re with us, help us with a donation.

Bangor, Belfast, Augusta, Pittsfield, Searsmont, Portland, Lewiston, Auburn, Palmyra-another awesome couple of weeks on tour in the great state of Maine!

On our most recent visit to the land of Paul Bunyan, I was thrilled to tour Getchell Brothers Ice with Nichi Farnham at their new facility in Bangor and to talk about the beverage industry with Scott Solman and his team at Maine Distributors.

Later that evening, we had a great crowd at Timber Kitchen and Bar for a meet and greet event.
The next night we were on to Augusta for the Kennebec County Friends of the NRA Dinner. I always enjoy being around so many folks that appreciate the Constitution-you can always feel safe in this crowd!
Saturday afternoon I was again pleased to be among many freedom-loving friends for the 2nd Amendment Rally at the Maine State House organized by the National Constitutional Coalition of Patriotic Americans. Despite some unseasonably nasty weather, there were over 800 folks in attendance to show their support for our Constitution. Check out my remarks to the crowd here:
Last week I was invited to speak at the Waldo County Tea Party meeting organized by Rita Horsey at the Abundant Grace Ministry in Searsmont.
Friday was a full day of meetings with business owners and local leaders including my friend Androscoggin GOP Chairwoman  Patti Gagne and Lewiston Mayor Shane Bouchard.
Friday night we had another great crowd for a meet and greet at Fuel in downtown Lewiston. Many thanks to all that turned out and a special thank you to Matt Leonard who pulled together the day and hosted the event-I’m glad to have you on our team.
I was close to home on Saturday night for a lasagna dinner hosted by the Palmyra Republican Town Committee. Special thanks to Wanda Lebrecque, Dena Worster, and Shane Reitze for your great work putting this together.
Many thanks to my friend and former colleague Jeanne Paquette for your endorsement. Jeanne also served in the LePage Administration as Commissioner of Labor.

Issues:

Ranked Choice Voting:

This rank choice voting thing is a scam and should be repealed immediately. It should never see the light of day. It is probably illegal and it is definitely a confusing mess. I have no doubt that when it is used in the primaries it will end up being challenged in court.

Every time my 84 year old mother asks me about it she gets angrier. My mother has never had a difficult time filling out a ballot. This foolish process may discourage voters from even voting because of all of this confusion.

Here is a link to a video that my friend, Rep. Sirocki recently did on rank choice voting that really shows how ridiculous this law is and worse that it will result in ballots being thrown out-like someone never even voted. How is that helping to achieve support from a majority of voters?”

Maine’s Constitutional Officers running for office while taking a state salary:

Janet Mills has used her position as Attorney General over the last 6 years as a bully pulpit to slow down the good work that Governor Paul LePage and I have been doing to reform welfare and prioritize services for Maine’s most vulnerable citizens. Now she continues to take a state salary while she campaigns for Governor.

I find this disrespectful to Maine taxpayers and I’d like to hear your thoughts. Please vote in this poll and comment below if you think Maine’s constitutional officers should have to resign from office to run for Governor.

Mayhew says Mills, Hayes should quit state jobs before running for governor

President Trump’s Executive Order on Welfare Reform:

Gov. LePage and I have made Maine a leader in reducing poverty and promoting economic opportunity. Our work caught the attention of President Trump’s team, and I have been working with them for the last year to craft their policies. Very proud that our work has become the model the White House is using for the entire country. Thank you, Donald J. Trump, for your action on this issue.
